Privacy policy
San Diego Water Heater Guide is an independent editorial guide. We collect the minimum needed to publish the guide and answer messages — and we do not sell personal data or hand reader data to the companies we cover.
What we collect
Contact form submissions. When you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, optional phone number, and message you type. That message is delivered to our editorial inbox by email so we can reply. We use it to answer you, to process corrections, and to handle listing claims — nothing else. There is no newsletter and no marketing list.
Analytics. This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages get read. It sets cookies and records standard web analytics data: pages viewed, approximate location derived from your IP address, referring site, and device and browser type. We also record two interaction events — a click on a phone-number link, and a contact-form submit — so we can tell whether the guide is actually useful. We do not send your name, email, or message text to Google Analytics.
Server logs. Our host (Vercel) keeps standard request logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or rent personal data.
- We do not sell leads. Contact-form messages are not forwarded to listed companies.
- We do not run advertising trackers or retargeting pixels.
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we store no passwords.
Third parties
Three processors touch data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting and request logs), Google Analytics (site analytics and cookies), and Forward Email (delivering contact-form messages to our inbox). Links to company websites, the CSLB licence lookup, and other sources take you to sites with their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
How long we keep it
Contact-form email is retained in our inbox until the matter is resolved and is deleted on request. Google Analytics retains its data per Google's configured retention period. Host logs follow Vercel's own retention schedule.
Your choices
You can block cookies in your browser or install Google's opt-out add-on to stop analytics collection; the guide works fine without it. To ask what we hold about you, or to have your contact-form message deleted, email hello@sandiegowaterheater.com and we will action it.
Children
This site is aimed at homeowners and is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date below. Questions about it go to the same address: hello@sandiegowaterheater.com.
